During inspection, turn your attention to the parts that fail on knitwear: pilling-prone fabric, loose ribbing at the cuffs and hem, uneven drawcords, crooked pockets, and thread tension around the hood seam. On sweaters specifically, look for dropped stitches and consistent knit density.
